I want people to meet at Anchor and start making plans that have nothing to do with the next event I’m hosting. Get dinner. Invite each other to a birthday. Make a plan because you actually want to see that person again.

I’ve seen people exchange numbers and keep an evening going after a gathering. I don’t know how many of those connections turn into regular friendships yet. I want to hear from people about what happens afterward, including when nothing does.

For Studio Social on November 12, we’re bringing people into a Tribeca art studio with AllArtWorks Foundation. There will be a shared artwork everyone can add to throughout the evening. You can come alone, and you don’t need to know anything about art.

I like giving people something to do together from the moment they arrive. You can sit down, pick up a marker, and have something in front of you to talk about. We’ll be there to help with introductions too.

Anchor is built around events today. I’m using them to work out what helps people see each other again, and where we could do more between gatherings. I’d rather learn that from people who actually come than assume I know the answer.

If you met someone through Anchor and hung out again, tell me how it happened. If you exchanged numbers and never followed up, I want to hear about that too.
